COVID-19: Are Our Bodies A 'Virus Haven' Or Can We Blindly & Confidently Rely On Our Immune System?

Updated: May 31

Taking Responsibility For Ourselves

I have been meaning to write this for a long time, long before the coronavirus outbreak, but now it is evident that humanity is more in need than ever to take individual responsibility and accountability for personal health and well-being wherever possible. In this instance, however, we are also obliged to take severe precautions for the sake of ourselves and others and if anything, it has become more than evident that the repetitive warning is that those with an underlying medical condition are at higher risk as well as the elderly.

Despite reassuring confirmations that only a small percentage of COVID-19 infected can get severely ill and only a very small percentage of the infected might die, we must not take for granted that many of us could be uninfected or may be symptom-less or have mild symptoms. Either way some of the symptoms can easily be confused with the general winter cold and hence the more reckless percentage of the population is potentially at risk of transferring the virus unintentionally to the minor groups, which unbeknownst to them, might also be at risk.

This leads us to the stark fact that there is a vast majority of the population who are suffering from mysterious conditions, misdiagnosed conditions, hidden illnesses or symptom-less conditions we have not had diagnosed or been tested for. A vast amount of the general population may suffer from a secret undiscovered epidemic such EBV virus, as per Medical Medium Anthony William. We tend to self-diagnose, brush off mild symptoms for something minor and before we know it, one thing leads to the next and we have been neglecting our immune system.

"Older people and people with pre-existing serious medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus", the World Health Organisation published on their website, whilst cancerhealth.com advises that "Although older people, those with other health conditions and people with compromised immune systems remain most at risk of severe illness from the new coronavirus, everyone should be vigilant." However, as someone quite rightly pointed out on my facebook group about autoimmune diseases as one of many examples: it takes an average of three years and five doctors for a person to get a proper prognosis of an autoimmune disease. It is a disease where instead of your white blood cells protecting your body from invaders, they turn around and attack your cells, tissues and organs. You are also prone to having multiple autoimmune diseases, they typically come in pairs of two, which means you can easily catch viral and bacterial infections.

How Much Do You Know About Your Immune System?

In the months before Christmas I had planned yet another internal body health detox as I had done in August, where I had finally managed a Medical Medium (don't worry, I will get to this further down below) 18-Day health program (admittedly my own adjusted version), in which I had lost the extra few lb's that had been glued to my tummy for years. I wasn't planning on losing weight, I felt though, as if my organs have had a break to recuperate, revitalize and regenerate and as a result of that were functioning a little bit better with the overload that my tummy had accumulated over the years. It was the first program/health diet that had ever worked on me and admittedly I have had full faith in Medical Medium Anthony William for years, using my own intuitive judgment.

An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away, Or Does It?

Daily exercising was meant to be part of my self-imposed regime, which was mainly lots of walking seeing that I love nature and being outside. My other two favorite forms of exercising are jumping on the mini-rebounder or swimming in our lovely communal pool, which I have been lucky enough to have access to in our Apartment building over the last ten years.

I'm not unnecessarily anxious or paranoid by nature, I've always had a natural positive outlook and no problem is ever to big to face. In fact, I seem to react incredibly well in crisis, even in danger and having been brought up around two tough East Prussian grandmothers who fled on their own during World War II with children, slept in a barn or rat infested room, I was brought up with the belief system that no dirt in the world is going to kill me. 'If your'e sick, come and hug me', has always been my unconcerned motto.

I had been shaking my head at an Uber-paranoid colleague who convinced himself that he would die from bacteria transmitted via salad leaves bought in a supermarket, so it was most peculiar when I have been having the constant nagging intuitive thought that if I went swimming in our downstairs pool I would catch something down there - "what if I catch a virus down there". As much as I consider myself intuitively aware, it never ceases to amaze me how clever and accurate intuition is without any logic or reasoning.

This went on for weeks and nothing could drag me down there for a swim. Now I know why.

Model Miranda Kerr Gets Slammed Over Medical Medium Virus Protection Guide And Celery Juice

A few days ago Model Miranda Kerr, 36 got slammed in public for promoting Medical Medium's advice on drinking celery juice as part of an internal health and healing regime. I can clearly see why this has gone wrong, as it has with a few other celebs who have attempted similar. Medical Medium Anthony William is a #1 New York Times best-selling author of Medical Medium, Life-Changing Foods, Thyroid Healing, and Liver Rescue who was born with the unique ability to converse with Spirit of Compassion who provides him with extraordinarily accurate health information that’s often far ahead of its time. Since age four, when he shocked his family by announcing that his symptom-free grandmother had lung cancer (which medical testing soon confirmed), Anthony has been using his gift to “read” people’s conditions and tell them how to recover their health.

The fact that Anthony William claims he has a 'gift' combined with having no qualification as a Medical Professional is enough to set the cynics, non-believers and the closed-minded off into a monster of a rage.

I know what it feels like when the backlash of health claims such as natural foods as a miracle healing potion literally evoke hidden intense and uncontrollable emotions in otherwise 'sensible' (note inverted commas on sensible) people who swear by medicine, chemicals and professional academic degrees as the 'only' approved form of health advice. The kind of people who compete by listing how many types of medications, antibiotics and chemical concoctions they have to take over a cup of coffee. Any suggestion to use nature as a healing potion, protection, prevention, self-preservation or curing method basically means that you have lost all credibility, because apparently you need a medical qualification to talk about nature.

The resistance to conform to new unorthodox methods of introducing nature as a form of prevention and self-healing measures can be explained in that it is human nature and psychology that certain people are more susceptible to figures of authority and exhibiting obedience towards authoritarian figures such as ranks in the social system and viewing figures of authority as legitimate and relevant in their judgments (Kathleen Taylor, 'Brainwashing').

I am asking you to keep an open mind, use your intuition and accept that less scientific studies and funds are being invested in alternative health than pharmaceuticals and medicine. It is becoming increasingly evident regardless, that a strong and healthy immune system is pivotal in fighting illnesses, disease and viruses and as simple as it sounds, a diet high in fruit and vegetables, exercising, adequate sleep, decreasing stress, a positive mind-set and avoiding toxins in general. All of these attributes help to boost and support the ever so import immune system. We often forget the vastness and complexity of the immune system, because we mostly relay it to the odd winter flu or cold in which we lightly tend to blame the immune system for being down. As soon as the flu is over, we squeezed a few lemons and thanked our busy bees for the honey we forget boosting our system: "The idea of boosting your immunity is enticing, but the ability to do so has proved elusive for several reasons. The immune system is precisely that — a system, not a single entity", an article on Harvard Health Publishing confirms.

I am under no circumstance claiming that we do not need medicines or the medical profession. We do need them, now more than ever! Nevertheless, we need to learn to self-prevent instead of self-harm, educate ourselves before we judge, be open-minded and do this shit together. We are not looking after our bodies or our environment adequately. We eat, drink, absorb and inhale toxins most of the day so how on earth will the medical profession be able to deal with the overload without our support?

For some odd reason, which I cannot logically explain, my personal interest in vitamins, herbs, health, nature and well-being has been getting my attention for over 30 years, long before eating healthy became the latest trend or natural foods and herbs got any public recognition. It is this life interest and curiosity which has nurtured my knowledge and by far exceeds any of my more recent academic education.

"Had we found the underlying mechanism that explains how cancer is a response to toxicity from environmental pollutants in the air and chemical additives in the diet?" ~ Candace B. Pert, PhD,

(Candace B. Pert, PhD, is a Research Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she also conducts AIDS research (Molecules of Emotion, 1997))

It is no longer a secret and now widely acknowledged that a toxic body or toxins within can feed cancer cells, pathogens, viruses, symptom-less viruses, fungus and bacteria. A strong immune system, a fully functioning internal cleansing system such as the liver, as one example, healthy lungs or heart, have more of a chance to fight potentially harming intruders. To support our body we need to ingest foods that are natural and healthy and which heal, instead of foods that are unnatural or toxic. This is as simple as it gets.

As per Anthony William: "By now, we’ve all heard of preservatives and artificial flavors—we know to avoid those, for very good reason. There are other problematic ingredients, though, which you should know to avoid. These ingredients can feed existing viral, bacterial, and fungal conditions, which can lead to inflammation—and can also wreak havoc with your digestive system, weaken and confuse your immune system, strain your glands and organs, hinder cells anywhere in your body, disrupt or destroy your brain’s neurons and neurotransmitters, make you anxious and/or depressed, set you up for strokes or heart attacks, and more. Health professionals are unlikely to warn you about most of these foods and additives, because it’s not common knowledge that they can substantially worsen already-existing illnesses, nor that they can trigger new health conditions. You deserve to have full knowledge of what you consume, and what effects it all has on your body.

Separating the Mind From the Body And The Body From Individual Organs Is A Problem

It was over ten years ago that I read 'Molecules of Emotion' by Candace B. Pert, PhD as a self-confessed layman, but I find these surprising nuggets of scientific research fascinating and highly undervalued. It was my intent to research the connection between the mind and the body, between our belief system and our physical health. In 'Molecules of Emotion', neuroscientist Candace Pert provides startling and decisive answers. Her pioneering research on how the chemicals inside us form a dynamic information network, linking mind and body. It becomes therefore evident that our thoughts, negative and positive beliefs can no doubt weaken or strengthen our immune system and our physical-body-network. In 'The Biology of Belief', Bruce H. Lipton, PhD, a renowned cell biologist also supports this view with his research on how the biochemical effects of the brain's functioning show that all the cells of your body are affected by your thoughts.

Just think and take this in, that if all of our thoughts can have an effect on all of our cells in the body, what effect does each apple, banana, avocado, potato or equally the unhealthy, fatty, toxic foods such as chemicals, additives or unnatural flavorings have on all of our cells in our organs, blood, legs, arms or toes?

"Simply thinking One thought initiates the pancreas to secrete a hormone, the liver makes an enzyme, the spleen is text messaging the thymus gland, blood flow in little capillaries in your ankles has changed - all from thinking ONE thought!" ~ Professor R.M.Sapolski (Stanford)

Although I had wanted to find scientific research on the link between the body and the mind it was something much more intriguing and fascinating which I came across and which has been ingrained in my memory all these years.

During the 1980's, during and after Pert's father's diagnosis of lung cancer and passing away, Pert with her fellow scientist, came to the conclusion that "there was a clear connection between cancer, the immune system, and toxicity in the body. Small-cell lung cancer, it appeared, was one disease that was entirely related to a toxic condition in the body. The 'dirt' in the lung from cigarette smoking (and other forms of pollution) had caused the immune system to go into hyper-response, in the form of sending more and more macrophages to try to repair the damage", she writes in Molecules of Emotion, but, what is interesting is the discovery that "We further concluded that the cancerous cells had originally arisen not from lung cells but from macrophages that had migrated to the lung from the bone marrow to participate in the cleanup and repair of damaged tissue. Somewhere on their journey between the bone marrow and the lung, they had mutated and turned into cancers that metastasized and spread everywhere."

This was a clear breakthrough and evidence that it is not necessarily or only the smoking which gives us lung cancer, any cancer or form of disease, but that our self-healing, self-cleansing internal system cannot prevent cells from mutation if the body has an toxic overload and the immune system is weak. A healthy immune system on the contrary can help defeat invading pathogens just as strong, positive mind-set can influence our body. We must obviously take into consideration the different types of cancer and most definitely not be stupid and presumptuous that eating healthy foods whilst smoking will protect us from lung cancer!!! Everyone is different.

To get optimum results and treating our body correctly we must learn to treat the body as a whole instead of separating the heart from the lungs, the lymphs from the kidneys, the intestines from the mind or the liver from the skin. The immune system is a network, a system. Everything is connected and contributes to the system in its own way. It is this system which we need to support.

The liver is such a complex and heroic organ, and it has an amazing feature—its very own personalized immune system—which helps fend off illness and protect your health. The liver actually has six unique immune functions with six different kinds of immune cells. Anthony William Medical Medium

Every machine is a network of smaller and bigger parts, tubes, filters, cleansers, exhaust pipes. Stuff goes in, is processed and stuff comes out. If a piece breaks, gets rusty, clogged up or stops working, the whole mechanism breaks down and stops working.

The human body has an immense self-healing, self-repairing and self-cleansing mechanism. As with any mechanism it requires maintenance, support, cleansing and nurturing.

Using Nature As A Medium

There are many things that we as individuals can do to contribute and support the immune system and keep our bodies and self-cleaning system constantly in tact. If we abuse the body with toxins, heavy metals or unhealthy foods we need to ensure that we take time to cleanse the system, give it adequate oxygen, detox and give our hard working organs a break to recuperate, regenerate and recover. A broken or non-functioning system cannot sustain constant toxicity and damage. It needs help and support that whilst during ageing it degenerates we supply it with enough energy.

Each and every organ and system within the body is connected to another and requires deserved nurturing, cleansing, re-booting and attention. If the liver, for example, gets too fatty it allows pathogens to prosper and prevents toxins from successfully leaving the body; and can’t function as well against the barrage of toxins and pathogens we’re exposed to in modern life. When blood fat is high, anything can prosper, including pathogens like bacteria and viruses.

Medical Medium Anthony William believes that we can heal and support our bodies and health with our general day to day fruit and veg. Our apples, bananas, beans, peas and potatoes which are packed with nutrients and vitamins.

The natural healing powers understandably diminish and lose in strength if we counteract the benefits of the skinned baked potato and cover it in sugary, salty canned beans and processed cheese. The nutritious juicy flesh of a tomato loses in value if it is the base for unhealthy animal fats or soaked in unnatural flavors or additives of fatty dressings.

If we break something we have to repair it and I have an undeniable suspicion that Mother Earth, in its most natural form, has the ability, to nurture and give us just that, the tools to nurture and heal our bodies!

We need to learn to view and treat our body, mind and spirit as a whole. The mind has long been linked to the body and studies have shown that depression can be decreased and managed through an improved diet. “A dietary pattern characterized by a high intake of fruit, vegetables, whole grain, fish, olive oil, low-fat dairy and antioxidants and low intakes of animal foods was apparently associated with a decreased risk of depression. A dietary pattern characterized by a high consumption of red and/or processed meat, refined grains, sweets, high-fat dairy products, butter, potatoes and high-fat gravy, and low intakes of fruits and vegetables is associated with an increased risk of depression.” Harvard Health Publishing

The Immune System Is Constantly Trying To Fight A Virus

With the recent coronavirus pandemic we evidently now have a responsibility and good reason to get our immune system up to scratch and rid our bodies of industrialized toxins so that they don't feed pathogens inside of us and create disease more disease.

Think about it: if your are feeding your immune system unhealthy toxins and additives 50% of the time, it will use up half of its effort and energy to fight diseases and intruders. If the door is 50% open to intruders, we have to invest time and effort to chase them out again!

There is a symbolic message in everything and if anything, the lesson of the COVID-19 virus gives us to take from this, is, that it is now no doubt a global wake-up call that we can no longer walk around blindfolded and carelessly sustain an exceedingly toxic lifestyle or rely purely on medication for an instant cure of a virus and its behavior that we know so little of. Ironically, whilst the virus is putting our life as we know it to a halt, Mother Earth is being given its first ever breather from environmental and industrial pollution and our trees can now release the oxygen production for us to absorb cleaner air into our bloodstreams. Breathe and relax!

Do not panic if, like me, you are experiencing systems or you have neglected your immune system in the past. As we are currently being advised by the authorities to isolate and take matters with mild symptoms into our own hands, there is so much you can do to help yourself right now such as taking high doses of Vitamin C, eat and drink natural fruit and vegetables high in Vitamin C, focus on natural foods and herbs which are antiviral and antibacterial such as garlic, ginger, spinach, cilantro, parsley, wild blueberries, papaya, lettuce, sprouts and celery juice.

The biggest gratitude and thank you we can give to the medical profession, doctors, nurses, those in supermarkets and shops, the drivers and anyone who keeps us stocked up with supplies is by taking care of our immune system in the future!
